THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Mobile Equipment Shop, a department of Carrier Manufacturing, is currently looking for a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic.

THE QUALIFICATIONS

We are currently accepting applications for a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic for our Prince George shop. Other qualifications include:

  • Red Seal Certification
  • Shop experience
  • Highly motivated with good communications skills
  • Excellent time management and organization
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • CAT Experience- familiarity with SIS and ET considered an asset


THE DUTIES

  • Daily Maintenance on Heavy Equipment
  • Heavy Equipment rebuilding

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Come work on one of the largest cattle ranches in British Columbia! Our 1000-pair, cow-calf operation sprawls over 8,000 deeded acres, just 15 minutes northwest of Prince George. Bar K Ranch was the first BC beef operation registered with the Verified Beef Production program and has received its AgSafe OHS Certificate of Recognition (COR).

THE QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced cowboss who is honest, open-minded and shows good attention to detail. This candidate will have a proficiency working with numbers and would also need a fundamental understanding of grazing management; working knowledge of cattle treatment as well as prevention and doctoring programs. Good horsemanship, roping and riding skills are required. ATV cattle working experience and equipment operation would be an asset.

THE DUTIES:

The type of work will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Moving cattle by horseback and ATV
  • Herd health, calving, vaccinating
  • Fencing

This is a fulltime permanent position, to begin immediately. Hourly wage determined by experience. Housing and Benefits are available as well for the right person.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent organization, computer, communication and team skills.  They must have proven skills related to all facets of forestry operations. Field experience is required.

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • A minimum of 5 years related experience,
  • Proficiency in current technology, with GIS knowledge an asset,
  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration, with the Association of Saskatchewan Forest Professionals,
  • Be knowledgeable in current forest legislation, and
  • Hold a valid driver’s License with a clean abstract.

The Duties:

Based out of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, the Harvesting Superintendent is responsible for the supervision of the harvesting and field operations for operations in Saskatchewan and will:

  • Manage contractor safety, performance, and environmental requirements in the operations,
  • Plan and execute annual road, harvest and post-harvest programs,
  • Supervise and direct the Woodlands Supervisors,
  • Implement the Log Quality program for Contractors,
  • Interact with Government personnel and industry partners in a professional manner, and
  • Perform other duties related to operations.

This is a full-time salaried position.  Salary will be commensurate with experience and includes a competitive industry benefits package.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced manager with exceptional administrative, planning, communication, veterinary and cattle handling skills. They will be keen on implementing the latest technology and mechanization in the industry to create a profitable and sustainable business model. The ideal candidate will be confident in managing all sectors of the ranch.

THE DUTIES:

To administrate all aspects of a cow-calf ranch, calving 1000 cows and farming 8000 acres for feed in a profitable, safe, humane and environmentally friendly manner, including but not limited to:

  • Managing all aspects of the cattle, including:  the breeding program for sale and replacement; pregnancy testing; vaccinations scheduling; weaning; sorting/selling; veterinary care; feeding/grazing rotation; and off-site cattle management,
  • Efficiently implementing farming, including:  spraying; tilling; seeding; and harvesting sileage and other feed crops for the cattle,
  • Supervising employees, including fulltime and seasonal staff,
  • Directing administrative activities, including: recordkeeping and reporting; and safe work procedures, and
  • Researching and implementing:  new technologies, genetics improvement and mechanization, all to become an innovative leader in the field of cattle management.

This is a fulltime, salaried position. Salary will be commensurate with experience and is negotiable. A competitive industry benefits package is available, which includes a lakefront home on-site, a vehicle and a cellphone. Start date and horse boarding may be negotiated as well.
